S kanske "at least 30 miles" vore mer inkluderande. _________________ Allt r vldigt ovisst. Det r jag helt sker p.

Kan det inte vara ett tjejnamn? Louisie-Anna?
Wikipedia, detta it-erans orakel slr fast att:
Citat: | "Cotton Fields" is a song written by Blues musician Huddie Ledbetter, AKA Lead Belly. It has been covered by Bill Monroe, Teresa Brewer, Harry Belafonte (1958), The Highwaymen (1961) (Billboard pop #13), Johnny Cash (1962), Buck Owens (1963), Odetta (1963), Ace Cannon (1963), The Seekers (1964), Unit 4+2 (1965), The Robert De Cormier Singers (1966), The Beach Boys (1969-1970), Creedence Clearwater Revival (1969), Frantic Flintstones, and Buckwheat Zydeco (1994).
The song mentions that the fields are "down in Louisiana, just about a mile from Texarkana". This is geographically impossible (Texarkana is about 30 miles north of the Louisiana border.) |
Citat: | Louisiana (also known as New France) was named after Louis XIV, King of France from 16431715. When Ren-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle claimed the territory drained by the Mississippi River for France, he named it La Louisiane, meaning "Land of Louis". Louisiana was also part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain of the Spanish Empire. The territory was acquired in 1803 by the United States through the Louisiana Purchase from France. Once part of the US, the Louisiana Territory stretched from present-day New Orleans north to the present-day Canadian border. Part or all of 15 states were formed from the territory. |
och
Citat: | While the meaning of the name is clear a portmanteau of Texas and Arkansas, it must be noted that Louisiana represents the ANA in (TEX ARK ANA) the actual origin is that when surveyors first surveyed the land they also thought that the city would also be on the border of Louisiana. One tradition tells of a Red River steamboat named The Texarkana, circa 1860. Another story mentions a storekeeper named Swindle in Red Land, Louisiana who concocted a drink called "Texarkana Bitters". A third account states that Col. Gus Knobel, a railroad surveyor, coined the name[3]. Local lore suggests that, before Texas' annexation by the US, in the area north of the Sulphur River (and at times as far south as Cypress Creek or even the Sabine River) and on the south or west side of the Red River as far west as the current Arkansas-Oklahoma border there were territory disputes among Americans, Mexicans, or others (French, Spanish, even the English). Because of the disputes, lawlessness ruled in the area that at times was claimed by all three (TEX-ARK-ANA). Because of the area's name, the city on the border between Texas and Arkansas was given the label. "Texarkansas" is a frequent misspelling.
In 1876, Texarkana, Texas, was granted a charter under an act of the Texas legislature, and a Texarkana, Texas, post office operated from 1886 to 1892. At some point after that, Congressman John Morris Sheppard (D-TX) secured a postal order officially changing the name to "Texarkana, Arkansas-Texas" |
_________________ Totalmoddad P'Mico sopran

OK, Allts:
It was down in what once used to be Louisiana
Eller:
It was down in what some dumbass thought to be Louisiana
_________________ Allt r vldigt ovisst. Det r jag helt sker p.

Ja, geografin i de gamla bluesltarna...
Honey don't you want to go
Back to the land of California
To my sweet home Chicago
- Robert Johnson

Hr Larson, vilket researcharbete, och vilka intressanta konklusioner! Det var imponerande!
Att Louisiana strckte sig frn New Orleans till Kanada innebr ju faktiskt att man skulle kunna brja praktiskt taget varenda lt som utspelar sig i USA med "It was down in Louisiana" och sedan fr man specificera geografisk position nrmare.
"I was born down in Louisiana, just about a mile from Niagra Falls"
"I woke up at a cheap motel down in Louisiana, just about a mile from Boston" |
